Guaca Maya is a lively Mexican and Latin American restaurant situated in south Omaha that feels like a vibrant neighborhood spot with more than just your typical Tex-Mex fare. The dining room is spacious, with plenty of seating options including a private party room, making it a good pick for groups or casual weekend gatherings. On weekends, the place notably shifts gears after dark, transforming into a dance venue with live music and a festive atmosphere that pulls a crowd looking for both dinner and entertainment.

Food at Guaca Maya tends toward generous portions with an emphasis on authentic, bold flavors—think mixed fajitas featuring beef, chicken, and shrimp sautéed with onions and peppers balanced well so the meat remains the star. The kitchen supports classic Mexican staples like handmade tortillas and sides including beans and rice that carry more depth than average. Dishes such as the All Molcajete Azteca and the Torre de Camarones highlight a menu rich in variety. Drinks lean toward Mexican-inspired choices, with the michelada standing out as a local favorite, though some guests note variations in drink consistency at times.

The restaurant’s vibe is colorful and festive, with staff often dressed in authentic attire which adds to the experience. Service can vary depending on the shift, but overall the staff works hard to create a welcoming environment. Weekend dinners especially give off a lively buzz, and the space comfortably handles crowds without feeling cramped.

Guaca Maya fits well for anyone looking to enjoy traditional Latin flavors in a relaxed, friendly setting that can easily transition into a night out with dancing and music. Families, groups of friends, and fans of Mexican cuisine will find plenty to enjoy, especially on weekend evenings when the energy picks up. Lunch visits on Saturdays tend to be smooth with easy accommodations for larger parties.

The food here is amazing. Flavorful and served hot and delicious. We had fajitas mixed. Beef, chicken and shrimp. Mixed with sautéed onions and peppers. They do not skimp on any of that. You will not get a plate loaded down with peppers. They have a great proportion. Chicken Quesadillas were served hot with plenty of sour cream and guacamole on the side. Even their rice and beans are so tasty. I got videos and pics for those who doubt. I will definitely be back. Atmosphere is relaxing and very authentic. Servers are in traditional Mexican outfits. Lady is behind a grill cooking tortillas fresh. Service is okay. Our guy was kinda new and didn’t quite know how to take care of us at first but he caught on and stepped up his game. He just needed direction a little. This place is wonderful for a date or to bring the family to celebrate any occasion. Like I said. I’ll be back here again. Oh. And the prices are not bad at all. Definitely worth every cent paid. No complaints here. Plenty of parking. Toilets are unusual. Most people I guess don’t know you got to step on the little button on the wall. Definitely different. But clean. Everything here was clean.

In the past, this place was pretty good. Very busy and food was spot on. This experience wasn't that great. Food was bland and margarita (although cute delivery) was not what I describe as a blended margarita. More like a smoothie with little tequila. Our server was brand new so they get a pass on the experience and this may have been their first experience in food service. I think next visit will be at a much busier time. We were literally the only 2 people in the restaurant around 6pm.

We visited on a Saturday for lunch and they were easily able to accommodate our large group. They have lots of tables and even a private party room. Definitely worth a visit!

Guacamole Maya is always a fun and lively place to eat. Handmade tortillas in-house, live music, festive decorations, fantastic service, and great food! On the weekends, after 9pm, it turns into a discotech for dancing... how can you not love it! If you haven't gone... it's definitely worth a visit.
